Presents round tres

These three beautiful girls do not need any explanation. These are a few of my favorite things.
They love singing that song so my sister Kelly and I decided to paint them some of the lyrics.

This one is Lauren's

Emma's (Kelly's painting with a little help from me)
Audrey's and yes I realize that this is not the next line in the song
but who really wants a painting of warm copper kettles?
I gave this one to my Auntie Lilia who is a beautiful woman and surprisingly I do NOT have a photo of. This will change in the future haha!
But I thought it would be a nice gift that all four of them can share

Presents round dos

This present was for my auntie merle. She is one of the few aunts who would ever go to a underground jazz club in paris with you late into the night. She is a true vagabond at heart and has been everywhere but the moon.

I drew her a simple line drawing of mr. eiffel and the quote says "Rien en se peut comparar a' Paris"- Deschamps or in english is "Nothing ever compares to Paris"

Presents round uno

So since it is after christmas it is safe to share my favorite presents I made without them being spoiled!

This was apart of Andrew's present (a long side of a clock and a birch candle), a hand drawn t-shirt. Ok first of all fabric pens are the WORST to work with so if I ever made t-shirts again I have to find something else to use. Anyways it was fun to do and of course the first shirt I have ever made has a octopus on it:

Here is Jen's present. She is teaching in Honduras for two years so I thought it would be nice to a map painting for her:

The kite is painted on a map of San Diego and the quote says "Do what you can, with what you have, and with where you are"- Theodore Roosevelt. That is a quote I have always enjoyed and I feel as if it is very fitting for her life out of the states:

Homemade Christmas Cards

For the past couple of days I have been working on some christmas cards! They are very simple just old construction paper spiced up with some white acrylic ink paintings:

When I was a babe....

I was obsessed with my red sequined dorothy shoes. I would never want to take them off and I would even wear them all around the house at all hours of the day. This illustration is in honor of my favorite childhood kicks:
Pen drawing, colored in photoshop, with a water color overlay (yes I really enjoy that wc wash)

My favorite song of all time:

Just pure sound

4 shades of chair

A scanned in drawing of a chair, then colored with photoshop

Come on,

Seriously, I want to give this squid a little more credit and a little more explanation...So I painted this for Ashley (who is incredibly talented I might add) and I think this my favorite painting up to date. Im just in love with the simplicity of it and complexity of all the texture. I would highly recommend clicking on the image for the full effect.

Painting on Pee-Wee Harris Fixer

So with our garage sale find I painted Andrew a boxer to complete his desk:

Super stoked how it turned out! Just plain ol' black acrylic on some Pee-Wee Harris Fixer

Treasures in OB

Andrew and I went treasure hunting in OB this saturday! Here are our finds:

World Atlas- $1 and Pee-wee Harris Fixer- 50 cents

Inside the World Atas (I don't know I have the heart to rip the pages out and paint on them)

Old Avon aftershave bottles! The lady who was selling these was a daughter of a collector and had hundreds of different bottles
only $1.50

Did I mention the packaging was just as amazing (if not better) then the bottles

Cologne with a ship inside, a saturday well spent!

Mr. Douglas Fir and friends

My roommate Carlie and I bought ourselves a Douglas Fir for our apartment. So we invited a few friends over for some cookies and to introduced Mr.Douglas to christmas style:
