Room and Bird

Today I found a bunch of frames and finally started to arrange things how I want in my room at home.Just one sad thing is that were moving within a year or two so I do not want to go full blown into decoration. Most of the art is mine but I think its a good start. Hopefully I can get mostly everything framed. ( Ignore the lime green wall color, I choose this color in second grade)

I don't even know why I am putting a picture of this BUT today I made my first ever fabric bird. I really want to start sewing things and start making my art 3 dimensional. I would like to apologize to my future daughter/son for my poor sewing skills. Hopefully when I do my next bird there will be visible improvement.

Resolution: 01/03/10!

Three days into the new year and I still have kept my resolution!!

Here is today's drawing:

Old man checking his shrubbery. I drew the last two days but I (1.) too lazy to take pictures of them and (2.) they are not very well done.

Anyways! This is in my new pocket sketch book I bought from Blick yesterday. I LOVEEEE new sketchbooks. Its just filled with empty pages that are ready to be explored by the tip of my pen. So this is the very first drawing in there. I always feel like the first drawing in new sketchbooks are always a little awkward. or for me at least.

And for the second part of my resolution: I am thankful for my family's support and encouragement in my art. and I am also thankful blossom dearie's song Tea for Two.

Blossom Dearie

I went to Berkley today to pick up some art supplies at Blick. I have to say Blick is one of the most amazing art stores I have been too. I swear I can spend hours in there. Anyways I tumbled upon a radio station on the way home and it played Blossom Dearie's Oh la la song. I have a couple of her songs already but today I truly fell in love with her when I listened to Tea for Two. Here are my favorite three songs of hers:

Leaf Art

So last month there was a huge storm in San Diego in which the wind declared war with the trees. Let us just say that the wind was beyond victorious. The next day there was leaves, tree bark, and other parts of the trees laying on the ground in utter defeat.

I took advantage of all the leaves on the ground and decided to draw on them. My room was filled with all the fallen parties of the battle and I would even find leaves in my bed!

Here are the results:

On this leaf I tried to keep natural patterns and nothing super structured. It is hard to tell in the picture but behind the leaf is actual tree bark I had collected.

Same with this leaf, all the textures are all organic shapes. And when I framed this, I tried really hard to keep the natural flow and feeling of the branch as if it was still hanging off a tree.

FIRST DRAWING OF 2010: PELICAN

First drawing I did in 2010! This pelican is the first of many drawings yet to be completed over this new year! I am soooo excited to see my art develop even more and I cant wait to see what I am going to draw over this year.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTION: atleast draw once a day and write down what I am thankful for.

so lets start this year off right...

I am thankful for my queen size bed and my ridiculously warm blanket and having a snoring french bull dog at my feet.
